Privacy Policy

Pangolu is a word game you play with friends. This page explains what information the game collects and what happens to it.

What we collect

  • From Google, when you sign in: your name, your email address, and the identifier Google assigns to your account. We never see your Google password and we do not access anything else in your Google account.
  • From you: the username you choose, and what you enter while playing: the boards you build (their themes and hints), the private tables you create (their names), your guesses, and the usernames and email addresses of people you invite.
  • A sign-in cookie: one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days.

How we use it

  • To sign you in and run the game.
  • To send email about the game: invitations you ask us to send, a notice when one of your boards is picked as the day's board, a notice when a board of yours nobody played comes back for another day, and a notice when someone invites you to a private table. You can turn these notices off in Settings.

Who can see it

  • Your username is shown to other players. Your email address and name are not; only the game's administrator sees your email address.
  • Boards you build are shown to the players at their table once they are played, along with everyone's scores on them. A private table's name, boards and players are shown only to the people at that table.

Other services involved

  • Google, for sign-in.
  • Amazon Web Services, which hosts the game and delivers its email.
  • Anthropic and OpenAI. When you build a board from a theme, the theme you type is sent to Anthropic to suggest words for it, and the suggested words are sent to OpenAI to check how alike they are. No other information about you is sent.

Keeping and deleting

We keep your account and game history for as long as your account exists. To have your account and its information deleted, or to ask anything about this policy, email jeremy@doumbekdigital.com.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page.
